Position Overview:
The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the orchard, ensuring efficient and sustainable practices in fruit or nut production. This role involves supervising a team of workers, coordinating tasks, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Team Supervision: Lead and manage a team of orchard workers, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Operational Oversight: Coordinate daily orchard activities, including planting, pruning, harvesting, and pest management.
• Quality Control: Monitor and ensure the quality of produce meets industry standards and company specifications.
• Resource Management: Oversee the use and maintenance of equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Reporting: Maintain accurate records of orchard activities, labor hours, and production metrics.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Orchard Manager to develop and implement strategies for orchard improvement and productivity.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions promptly.
• Physical Fitness: Capable of performing manual labor and working in various weather conditions.
• Certifications: Health and Safety training (e.g., First Aid), and relevant horticultural qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
Working Conditions:
• Environment: Outdoor setting with exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Hours: Typically, 30-40 hours per week, with potential for extended hours during peak seasons.
• Travel: Occasional travel between different orchard sites may be required.
