Position Available: Horticulture Leading Hand
Number of Positions Available: 2
Location: Katikati, Bay of Plenty
Pay Rate: $32 to $38 per hour
Hours of Work: 30 – 40 hours per week

Key Requirements

• Minimum 2 year of experience
  Or

• Level 4 or higher  qualification

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate orchard workers carrying out kiwifruit crop maintenance tasks.

• Monitor and support seasonal activities such as pruning, thinning, canopy management, and harvesting.

• Ensure work is performed to industry standards and orchard requirements.

• Train and guide new and seasonal staff in horticultural techniques and safe work practices.

• Check plant health, identify pests and diseases, and report issues to management.

• Operate and maintain horticultural tools and equipment safely.

• Maintain accurate records of orchard work, staff performance, and production activities.

• Ensure compliance with health & safety and hygiene regulations at all times.

• Assist with planning daily work schedules and allocating tasks to team members.

• Monitor stock levels of tools, protective equipment, and orchard supplies.

• Report orchard progress, crop quality, and labour needs to management.

• Support continuous improvement in orchard practices to maximise productivity and fruit quality.
