Duty Manager
Location: Pleasant Point, New Zealand
Position: Full-time (Minimum 30 hours per week)
Pay range: $24.00 – $30.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Duty Manager to join our client’s team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the liquor store, ensuring efficient service, compliance with regulations, and a safe, friendly environment for both customers and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure customers receive prompt service and high-quality products.
- Provide professional and courteous responses to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Supervise and train staff to maintain high standards of service and product knowledge.
- Plan and prepare work schedules, assigning duties to team members.
- Manage staff performance, including interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating.
- Ensure all alcohol sales comply with licensing laws and store policies.
- Maintain accurate stock control through inventory checks and reordering of products.
- Oversee pricing, product display, and promotional activities.
- Handle returned goods appropriately and maintain store cleanliness.
- Enforce health, safety, and security standards within the store.
- Open and close the store as required and manage cash handling procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of relevant retail or supervisory experience, preferably in a liquor store or similar environment, or
- A New Zealand Register Level 2 qualification (or higher) in retail, hospitality, or management.
- Must hold (or be eligible to hold) a current Duty Manager’s Certificate under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays as needed.
