Saigon Xin Chao is seeking a skilled and passionate Vietnamese Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, preparing, and cooking authentic Vietnamese dishes. The role requires a strong understanding of Vietnamese culinary traditions, ingredients, and cooking techniques. This position involves teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, organise, and supervise the preparation and cooking of food items according to restaurant standards and menu requirements.

Prepare and cook a range of traditional Vietnamese dishes using authentic methods and ingredients.

Ensure all dishes meet quality, taste, and presentation standards before service.

Monitor and maintain stock levels; assist in ordering supplies as required.

Oversee food safety and hygiene standards in all kitchen and preparation areas.

Work collaboratively with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Assist team members as needed to ensure service deadlines are met.

Train and guide junior kitchen staff where required.

Adhere to all health, safety, and workplace policies and regulations.
Skills and Experience Required:

Minimum 2 years of experience as a chef, preferably in Vietnamese or Asian cuisine.

Proven knowledge and experience in preparing traditional Vietnamese dishes.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Team-oriented attitude and willingness to assist others to achieve kitchen goals.

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

No formal qualification required – on-the-job training and further development will be provided.

Must have the right to work in New Zealand or hold a valid New Zealand work visa to be considered for this position, and be willing to undergo a background check and verification of previous employment.
