We are seeking passionate, skilled Chefs who appreciate Japanese cuisine, are committed to excellence, and can bring creativity to the continued success of our menu.

As a Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen. This includes assisting the Director in managing the kitchen’s catering services, maximising sales and profitability, and ensuring high standards of food preparation and customer service.

Additionally, you will be expected to lead and motivate the team to maintain excellence in all aspects of kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and enhance our current menu by introducing signature Japanese dishes that showcase regional diversity and elevate the dining experience.
  • Using innovative Japanese cooking techniques, create and present traditional dishes with fresh, authentic ingredients.
  • Develop seasonal specials and new recipes that reflect modern dining trends while preserving the authenticity of Japanese culinary traditions.
  • Ensure every dish meets the highest standards of taste, aroma, and presentation to enhance the overall dining experience.
  • Lead, train, and inspire kitchen staff in Japanese food preparation, including sushi skills, tempura techniques, grill work, and broth-based cooking, while ensuring consistency and food safety compliance.
  • Oversee ordering, inventory, and stock control of key Japanese ingredients (such as sauces, spices, seafood, and specialty produce) to ensure efficiency and minimise waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency in the kitchen while upholding all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure menu offerings align with the restaurant’s vision and customer expectations.

Job Requirements:

  • A relevant vocational qualification in culinary arts or at least two years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience as a chef specialising in Japanese or Asian cuisine would be preferred.
  • A creative mindset with a passion for crafting exceptional dishes that leave a lasting impression.
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Excellent time management skills and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
