About the Role

We are seeking experienced and reliable Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently and collaboratively in a busy kitchen environment while ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Checking and assessing food items to ensure freshness, quality, and proper storage.
• Adjusting and maintaining cooking equipment such as ovens, grills, and fryers to required temperatures.
• Preparing and cooking a range of dishes served at our restaurants.
• Seasoning and monitoring food during the cooking process to maintain consistency and taste.
• Portioning prepared dishes, plating meals attractively, adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes as per restaurant standards.
• Storing ingredients and prepared foods in appropriate temperature-controlled environments.
• Preparing meals for customers with specific dietary requirements when required.
• Assisting with menu planning and estimating daily or weekly food supply needs.
• Supporting and training junior kitchen staff and apprentices when needed.

Skills & Experience Required

Applicants must meet one of the following:

• Hold an NZ Register Level 4 qualification(Equivalent) in cookery or a relevant field; OR
• Have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a commercial kitchen environment.

• Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
• Ability to work under pressure during busy service periods
• Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
• Reliability and commitment to consistent performance
