We are currently seeking an Sheetmetal Technicians to join our team. As an Sheetmetal Technician, you will be responsible for performing various tasks such as marking out, shaping, forming, and joining sheetmetal and other materials to make products and components. The task lists are below.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity, following current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
· Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements, material needs, and equipment specifications.
· Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products
· Communicate effectively with clients, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met and that they are satisfied with the quality of work.
· Make necessary operating adjustments via instrumentation, equipment to maintain product specifications.
· Select the appropriate metal type, size and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications.
· Measure, mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed using tools.
· Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last
· Shape and form cut metal stock into products using folding and bending machines, rollers, presses, and hammers, and ensure that they meet the required specifications.
· Install assemblies, including Plenums, HVAC ducts, Metal adaptors and HVAC duct branches, in supportive frameworks.
· Finish products by polishing, filing, sanding, and cleaning assembled products to ensure that they are ready for installation and use.
· Specialize in either fabrication or on-site assembly and installation of sheet metal products, depending on the job requirements.
· Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and a seamless appearance.
· Repair damaged sheet metal products and components as necessary, ensuring that they meet the required specifications.
· Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products.
· Ensure that efficiency is maximized while fabricating and manufacturing HVAC products.
· Package finished products within bulk or packaged containers.
· Able to operate pallet jack.
· Keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and attend training sessions as necessary to enhance skills and knowledge.
· Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to the following production team and shift supervisors.
· Ensure that all work is done in compliance with relevant safety regulations and guidelines, and take appropriate safety precautions to minimize the risk of injury or harm.
· Ensure that all work is done safely and in compliance with relevant safety regulations and guidelines.
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
· Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment used in sheet metal work, ensuring that they are in good working condition.
Requirements:
• Hold atleast 2 years of experience in metal workshop in any position or NZQA level 4 or higher qualification.
• Any bachelor’s degree meets the requirement and an advantage
• Knowledge of hand and power tools is an advantage.
• Any knowledge of sheetmetal work will an advantage.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to lift heavy items in the workshop.
· Able to work on weekends or after hours if required.
· Driving licence will be an advantage but not mandatory.
