About the Role

We are a residential foundation construction company specialising in ribraft foundation

systems. We are seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to provide technical support across

consenting, structural plan interpretation, material take-offs, and internal project

coordination.

This role supports our Licensed Building Practitioners (LBPs) by ensuring all works comply

with structural engineers’ plans and consented designs.

Key Responsibilities

● Interpret structural engineers’ plans, specifically for ribraft foundation systems.

● Assist LBP staff in verifying compliance with consented and engineered

specifications.

● Complete material estimates, take-offs, and measurements for ordering materials.

● Coordinate internally with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and temporary staff.

● Maintain project documentation, quality checks, and foundation work records.

● Use Buildxact for costings and project management tasks.

● Support project scheduling and workflow monitoring.

● Prepare technical reports and contribute to continuous improvement of processes.

Minimum Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

○ Required due to the technical nature of interpreting structural foundation

plans and ensuring compliance with engineered ribraft designs.

● 6 months to 1 year minimum work experience in construction, engineering support, or

foundation work.

● Experience interpreting structural plans, specifically ribraft foundation plans.

● Experience preparing take-offs/estimates for foundation materials.

● Experience using Buildxact software for costing OR demonstrable experience with

other construction management systems.

● Experience with project management tasks in a construction environment.

● Strong understanding of New Zealand foundation construction standards (training

provided).

● Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

 

Additional Skills

These skills are not essential and do not affect ability to perform the role, but are

operationally useful:

● Ability to communicate in Tagalog to assist coordination with subcontractors and

temporary staff who predominantly speak Tagalog.

(This is desirable solely for operational efficiency and is not required to perform the

core tasks.)
