LNZ International Travel Service Limited is a New Zealand ADS-licensed inbound travel and tourism company, specialising in serving both domestic travellers and international tour groups. Our clients come predominantly from China and other Asian countries. We operate a fleet of tourism vehicles and provide comprehensive ground-handling services across New Zealand. As an active industry participant, our team also attends offshore trade shows, business meetings and major industry events organised by Tourism New Zealand each year.

 

About the position

With the strong post-pandemic economic rebound and the rapid recovery of the tourism industry, we are now seeking an experienced Travel Consultant to join our Auckland-based team. This is a key operational role responsible for communicating with international partners and coordinating travel arrangements for a wide range of client groups.

 

Summary of key information

·       Nature of employment: Permanent full-time

·       Remuneration: $30.00 to $32.00 per hour

·       Overtime rate: at the rate of normal salary for any time worked in addition to an ordinary work week.

·       Minimum guaranteed hours of work: 30 hours per week

·       Maximum hours of work: 40 hours per week

·       Location of work: Auckland

 

Summary of key responsibilities (including but not limited to):

·       Liaise with international travel partners, government agencies, educational institutions and online platforms to understand client objectives, group profiles and any special travel requirements.

·       Recommend suitable New Zealand travel products and design tailored itineraries that take into account route feasibility, seasonality, operational constraints and client budgets.

·       Work closely with New Zealand suppliers,including hotels, transport operators, attractions, restaurants and activity providers, to source availability, negotiate group arrangements and confirm all components of the itinerary.

·       Prepare and deliver complete travel documentation for clients, including itineraries, tickets, booking confirmations and supplier-issued vouchers.

·       Provide clients with essential pre-departure information such as travel schedules, connection details, baggage rules, and relevant health or entry requirements.

·       Offer professional advice on local attractions, cultural experiences, sightseeing opportunities and tour options across New Zealand.

·       Assist clients with travel-related documentation and clearances to ensure a smooth journey upon arrival and during travel.

·       Provide guidance on travel insurance matters and keep clients informed of important regulatory considerations, including customs and travel compliance requirements.

·       Respond promptly and professionally to enquiries from international travellers and partners, offering recommendations based on local knowledge and operational experience.

·       Share brochures, product updates and customised travel suggestions to support client decision-making.

·       Maintain up-to-date operational records, manifests, supplier confirmations and booking documents within company systems and templates.

·       Attend tourism industry events, trade shows and offshore promotional activities when required, representing the company and supporting business development initiatives.

·       Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Key requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

·       At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the travel or tourism industry

·       Proven group operation experience, including handling large or complex itineraries.

·       Strong knowledge of tourism products and supplier networks.

·       Ability to use a range of tourism-related forms, templates and systems (e.g., itinerary builders, costing sheets, booking management platforms, supplier portals).

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Strong relationship-building skills.

·       High level of accuracy, time management and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

·       Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
