We are an exclusive importer and distributor of GAC vehicles in New Zealand. As a rapidly expanding automotive brand, we are committed to bringing high-quality vehicles, excellent customer service, and strong business partnerships to the New Zealand market. To support this growth phase, we are seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to lead fleet sales, develop strategic partnerships, and strengthen our brand presence nationwide. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week and work in our Auckland office.
Role Overview:
The Business Development Manager will play a central role in expanding GAC’s commercial footprint by driving fleet sales, planning and implementing sales strategies, and coordinating directly with the GAC factory on production and supply chain matters. A key part of the role is to build strong working relationships with GAC stakeholders in China. The role also focuses on developing relationships within the Chinese business community and managing long-term partnerships with VIP clients, leasing companies, rental operators, and corporate fleet customers.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and review strategic sales and business development plans to increase GAC’s fleet presence across New Zealand.

Formulate and execute advertising, promotional, and communication strategies to support market penetration and brand positioning.

Identify and develop new commercial opportunities, partnerships, and corporate accounts, particularly within the Chinese-speaking business community.

Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer demand to recommend business growth strategies.

Build and manage a strong pipeline of fleet and B2B sales opportunities.

Prepare tailored proposals, quotations, and pricing packages for corporate and high-volume clients.

Drive initiatives that expand GAC’s fleet presence, rental partnerships, and corporate adoption.

Liaise directly with the GAC factory and stakeholders in China on sales orders, production schedules, technical specifications, and vehicle shipment arrangements.

Ensure production forecasts and stock planning align with market trends and client demand.

Oversee documentation accuracy and coordinate with logistics and internal departments to ensure smooth delivery.

Build and maintain long-term relationships with leasing companies, rental fleets, commercial operators, and large corporate clients.

Lead contract negotiations, manage service expectations, and ensure successful fulfilment of large-volume fleet purchases.

Provide high-level after-sales support and maintain strong client satisfaction metrics.

Plan, organise, and participate in trade shows, industry events, and networking activities to promote the GAC brand.

Promote GAC’s brand values and product advantages in commercial presentations and stakeholder meetings.

Prepare reports and provide insights to support senior management’s strategic decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills:

At least 5 years’ relevant experience in business development, fleet sales, or sales management.

Automotive industry experience is highly preferred.

Ability to build strong relationships with corporate clients, community partners, and international suppliers, including GAC stakeholders in China.

Strong knowledge of B2B sales processes, commercial fleet requirements, and customer relationship management.

Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.

Strong analytical, organisational, and project-management abilities.

Ability to work independently, meet sales targets, and manage multiple projects.
