Elite Construction Limited is one of Auckland’s most trusted and innovative construction companies, delivering high-quality commercial and residential projects across the region. As we continue to expand and strengthen our market position, we are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Specialist to join our team.
This is a pivotal role focused on driving business growth, building strong client relationships, identifying new market opportunities, and supporting the company’s long-term strategic development. You will work closely with senior management to help position Elite Construction as the builder of choice in the Auckland market. This is a permanent, full-time role, and you are required to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Business Acquisition & Lead Generation
- Identify potential commercial, residential, industrial, and civil construction projects across Auckland and wider regions.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of leads through market research, networking, and client outreach.
- Proactively pursue opportunities with developers, architects, engineers, project managers, consultants, and government agencies.
- Respond to business inquiries, expressions of interest (EOIs), and requests for proposals (RFPs).
2. Client Relationship Management
- Develop long-term, trust-based relationships with new and existing clients.
- Conduct regular client meetings to understand project requirements and budgets.
- Provide clients with timely updates, company capability information, and tailored project solutions.
- Manage post-project relationship follow-up for referrals and repeat business.
3. Tendering, Bidding & Proposal Management
- Lead the preparation of tender submissions, pricing documents, capability statements, and competitive bid proposals.
- Work closely with the QS team, project managers, and directors to develop accurate and compelling project bids.
- Support the negotiation of commercial terms, contract conditions, and project agreements.
- Ensure tender documentation meets compliance, quality, and presentation standards.
4. Market Research & Strategic Planning
- Conduct ongoing research into market conditions, competitive landscape, material costs, and regulatory changes.
- Identify upcoming development projects, zoning updates, and government procurement opportunities.
- Analyse industry trends and provide strategic recommendations for business growth.
- Contribute to annual business development plans and sales strategy sessions.
5. Brand, Marketing & Networking
- Represent the company at industry networking events, exhibitions, trade shows, and community functions.
- Work with internal teams to strengthen branding, promotional materials, case studies, and digital presence.
- Assist with marketing campaigns targeting high-value clients and strategic partners.
- Promote the company’s capability and portfolio in a professional and compelling manner.
6. Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with senior management to align business development activities with company goals.
- Maintain detailed records of leads, submissions, success rates, and client engagements.
- Prepare monthly BD reports summarising opportunities, conversions, risks, and recommendations.
- Contribute to improving internal processes for tendering, client engagement, and market tracking.
Skills & Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business management or other relevant fields OR
- At least three years of proven experience in business development or business managerial roles
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyse market data and identify high-value opportunities.
- Strong proposal and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and target-driven.
