Natvar Petroleum Limited is seeking a skilled Cook to join its team in Invercargill. The role will support the smooth and efficient operation by assisting in daily food preparation and maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality. The ideal candidate will be reliable, motivated, and passionate about food preparation and service.
Job Responsibilities –
- Prepare, cook, and present a range of hot and cold food items, including ready-to-eat meals, snacks, sandwiches, savoury products, and bakery items in accordance with company recipes and quality standards.
- Prepare and bake a variety of products such as pies, sausage rolls, pastries, muffins, slices, cookies, and other baked goods for retail sale.
- Plan daily food production requirements and ensure adequate quantities of food products are available to meet customer demand.
- Prepare ingredients for cooking and baking, including measuring, mixing, portioning, marinating, and assembling food items.
- Monitor cooking and baking times, temperatures, and product quality to ensure consistency, freshness, and food safety compliance.
- Maintain attractive food displays and ensure food products are replenished throughout the day as required.
- Check the quality of raw ingredients and finished products, ensuring all items meet company standards before being offered for sale.
- Store food, ingredients, and bakery products appropriately in temperature-controlled environments and assist with stock rotation to minimise wastage.
- Assist with ordering food supplies and monitoring inventory levels to ensure continuous availability of ingredients and products.
- Maintain compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene requirements, and the business's Food Control Plan at all times.
- Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, baking equipment, food preparation areas, storage facilities, and utensils to maintain a safe and hygienic work environment.
- Assist in developing new food and bakery products and making recommendations to improve product offerings and customer satisfaction.
- Work collaboratively with store staff to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and provide a high standard of customer service.
Work Hours and Benefits:
- Minimum requirement of 30 hours per week.
- Compensation ranges from $25 to $30 per hour.
Other Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience or at least Level 4 Qualification.
- Flexible to work various shifts, including weekends, as required.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods during working hours.
