About Us
MC Drainage Ltd is an established Auckland-based civil drainage contractor specialising in residential, commercial, and infrastructure drainage projects. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality workmanship, maintaining strong health and safety standards, and providing reliable drainage solutions for our clients.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Drainlayer to join our team.
About the Role
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Auckland.
Hours of work:
Minimum 30 hours per week, up to 50 hours per week, Monday to Saturday as required.
Pay rate:
NZD $31.00 – $35.00 per hour, depending on skills, qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
• Installing, repairing and maintaining stormwater, wastewater and sewer drainage systems.
• Reading and interpreting plans and site specifications.
• Excavating trenches and preparing sites for drainage installation.
• Laying pipes, fittings, manholes and associated drainage infrastructure.
• Testing drainage systems for leaks and compliance.
• Operating and working safely around excavation equipment.
• Backfilling and reinstating work areas.
• Ensuring all work complies with New Zealand standards and health and safety requirements.
• Working effectively with supervisors, machine operators and other team members.
• Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean, safe worksite.
Skills and Experience
Applicants should have:
• At least three years' relevant work experience as a Drainlayer or
• A relevant Level 4 qualification (or higher) in Civil Construction, Drainlaying or a related trade.
• Ability to read construction drawings and plans.
• Good understanding of drainage installation practices.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual work outdoors.
A current New Zealand Driver Licence is preferred but not essential.
