Systems Support Engineer
At Octave, we're looking for a proactive and technically curious Systems Support Engineer to join our team supporting a critical operational environment in Wellington. This is a hands-on role where you'll work directly with users, troubleshoot a wide variety of technical issues, and become a trusted onsite technical expert supporting our Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) platform and associated systems.
Responsibilities include providing onsite support for mission-critical applications and systems, troubleshooting software, hardware, database, network, and infrastructure issues, supporting Windows environments, system administration activities, and application operations, analyzing application logs, system behavior, and data to identify and resolve issues, implementing system updates, configuration changes, and operational improvements, building strong relationships with end users and customer stakeholders, helping maintain system reliability in a 24/7 operational environment, participating in an on-call roster, and occasional travel between customer locations.
We'll be particularly interested if you have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, experience supporting business-critical applications or systems, Windows administration experience, including Active Directory, DNS, and Microsoft technologies, exposure to SQL, scripting, databases, automation, or application support environments, the confidence to work independently and manage competing priorities, excellent customer service and communication skills, a genuine passion for technology and continuous learning, and tertiary level qualification in Business, Computer Science, IT or other related disciplines.
