Job descriptions:
- Read and interpret building plans, drawings and specifications.
- Measure, mark, cut and shape timber and other building materials.
- Construct, assemble and install timber structures and fittings for residential buildings.
- Install timber framing, flooring, doors, windows and other wooden components.
- Fit and secure timber components, ensuring correct alignment and stability.
- Repair, replace and modify existing timber structures and fittings.
- Operate woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools safely.
- Check completed work for accuracy, quality and compliance with project specifications.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and tidy work area.
Job requirements:
- A relevant qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 or above, or at least one year of relevant work experience.
- Good attention to detail and a hard-working and reliable attitude.
- Physically fit and able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying heavy building materials and equipment.
- Able to work safely with hand tools, power tools and construction equipment.
- Able to work at heights and in different weather conditions when required.
- Flexibility to work overtime and on weekends when required.
- The successful candidate must not have any criminal convictions and be able to pass a drug test.
