Own the firmware architecture across the embedded product portfolio and guide its evolution

Software Firmware Architect

At Teletrac Navman, we help businesses improve productivity, safety and sustainability through innovative fleet management and telematics solutions. We're looking for an experienced Software Firmware Architect to play a key role in designing and evolving the embedded firmware architecture that powers our next generation products.

This is a senior technical leadership position where you'll influence product strategy, drive architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and help deliver secure, scalable and reliable embedded solutions used by customers around the world.

About the Role

Reporting to the CTO, you will take ownership of firmware architecture across our embedded product portfolio and work closely with engineering, validation, product management and key stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and evolve the long-term firmware architecture strategy
  • Design robust, secure and maintainable embedded software solutions
  • Lead architecture, design and code reviews across firmware teams
  • Promote best practices, standards and architectural patterns
  • Collaborate with product and validation teams to ensure quality outcomes
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies into existing platforms
  • Contribute to product definition and technical roadmaps
  • Mentor and coach engineers across the firmware team
  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes and technology adoption

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • 10+ years of embedded firmware development experience using C
  • Proven experience architecting embedded systems and products
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, patterns and best practices
  • Experience working within Agile development environments
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to influence technical direction and communicate complex concepts clearly
  • Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
