RELOCATION TO DUNEDIN
Platinum Recruitment are supporting the Otago Regional Council (ORC) to find a Manager Environmental Delivery Data and Systems. Through science, policy, consents, compliance and environmental monitoring, ORC works to support thriving communities and sustainable resource management across the region.
This role will lead the regulatory data and systems team and play an important role in ensuring ORC's environmental and regulatory data systems are efficient, accurate, and fit for the future.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across ORC's Regulatory Data and Systems function. Leading a team, you will encourage continuous improvement, innovation, high data quality management while supporting the effective delivery of ORC's regulatory activities.
This opportunity allows you to work closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders, driving system improvements, strengthen data quality, and help ensure ORC has the information it needs to make informed decisions and deliver positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and encourage the development of the Regulatory Data and Systems team, fostering a collaborative culture
- Ensure the quality, integrity, and effective management of environmental and regulatory data
- Provide expert advice and insight to support organisational planning, decision making, and regulatory activities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with team members and stakeholders
- Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives across the environmental delivery function
- Ensure resource consent monitoring reflects consent conditions and organisational priorities
You are a people focused leader, this is a key component of the role, and you thrive on building and leading teams. You bring a strategic mindset, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to translate complex information into practical solutions. You are equally comfortable working at both a strategic level, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands on involvement in systems, reporting and process improvement.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's qualification in Environmental Management, Science, Information science or a related field with SQL reporting services
- Significant experience managing data and databases
- Significant leadership experience developing and supporting teams
- Experience in local government
- Experience leading process improvement, quality assurance or systems enhancement initiatives
- Experience collecting and analysing environmental data
- Strong communication, reporting, and organisational skills
