Pay rate: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience
About Us
VHANJAM HOME AND RENOVATION LIMITED is a Canterbury-based building and renovation business delivering residential construction, renovation and repair work. We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Hammer hand to join our team and support our qualified builders on site.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Loading and unloading building and construction materials, tools and equipment, and moving them around building sites
• Assisting carpenters and builders with framing, fixing, installation of building components and general renovation work
• Erecting and dismantling temporary structures such as barricades, edge protection and scaffolding (under supervision)
• Mixing, pouring and spreading materials such as concrete, plaster and mortar
• Digging and preparing ground for foundations, footings and paths, and removing excavated material by wheelbarrow or other means
• Assisting with demolition and strip-out of existing structures during renovation projects
• Using hand and power tools such as hammers, drills, saws and nail guns safely and correctly
• Keeping building sites clean, tidy and safe, and removing waste and debris
• Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment
• Following health and safety procedures and site instructions at all times
Requirements
• NZQF Level 1 qualification, or completion of compulsory secondary education
• No minimum work experience is required – on-the-job training will be provided
• Basic knowledge of construction hand and power tools
• Physically fit and able to perform manual work, including lifting, carrying, bending and working at heights
• Willingness to work weekends when required for demand or urgent jobs
• Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Good attitude towards health and safety
