Build and thrive within a hands-on dairy farm operations project at Maronan Farm

Dairy Farm Assistant

Join the team at Pāmu's Maronan Farm as a Dairy Farm Assistant. This is a hands-on dairy role where you'll be part of the day-to-day running of the farm.

Enjoy a structured roster that gives you regular time off, working 6 days on and 3 days off from mid-January to mid-July, then 6 days on and 2 days off for the rest of the year.

You'll work with a supportive team and farm manager, and build your skills across milking, calving, feeding, fencing, moving stock, animal health and caring for the environment.

No two days are quite the same. You'll have the chance to learn from experienced people, grow your confidence, and keep developing your dairy farming career.

You might already have dairy farming experience, or you may be ready to take the next step in your farming career.

What matters most is that you enjoy working with animals, like being outdoors, and are willing to learn. You'll be part of a team that supports each other, works safely, and takes pride in caring for the animals, the farm and the environment.

You'll do well in this role if you:

  • Enjoy practical, hands-on work
  • Have an interest in organic farming
  • Are comfortable working with animals
  • Can ask questions and speak up when you need help
  • Like working as part of a team
  • Are keen to keep learning and building your skills
  • Have a current restricted or full New Zealand driver licence

Experience in a similar role is preferred – but not essential as we will provide training.

We're proud to have a supportive and inclusive culture at Pāmu, and we encourage applications from people who share our values – even if you don't tick every box.

Just 15 minutes from Ashburton, Pāmu's Maronan Farm is part of a progressive farming operation. Spanning 380 hectares and milking 1,020 cows, the farm boasts a 60-bail rotary shed and excellent facilities, providing a great environment to work and develop your skills.

We offer a competitive salary package, with wellbeing and family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave, health and life insurance benefits, and up to 4% KiwiSaver matching. You'll also receive an extra day of leave over Christmas, plus ongoing training and development.

The role comes with accommodation.

Applications close midnight on 18 October 2026, we will be contacting applicants as they apply, so please don't wait.
