Mō Te Tūranga | About The Role
We're looking for a Supervisor to join our Civil South construction team based in Timaru.
Our other work specialises in infrastructure construction with a strong focus on reinforced concrete. Our current projects span a wide range, including bridges, wharves, water treatment plants, storage tanks, and pipelines.
This is a senior site-based role where you'll take the lead on a Timaru Port based project, delivering civil and structural work. Working side-by-side with a tight-knit team, subcontractors and clients. Day to day, you'll balance planning and coordination with being hands-on when it counts, making sure we deliver safely, on programme and to spec.
You'll also help build and grow a strong crew culture, with opportunities to step into other major projects around New Zealand.
In addition to the above you will:
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day activities of the site crew and subcontractors on structural works.
- Plan, sequence and supervise reinforced concrete, precast and structural steel operations for bridges, reservoirs and associated civil structures.
- Champion HSQE on site, ensuring all works meet Fulton Hogan and statutory health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Monitor progress against programme and specifications, troubleshooting issues and resolving on-site challenges promptly.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, designers, suppliers, inspectors and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, quality checks, incidents, variations and daily site progress.
- Coach, support and develop team members, helping create a positive, low-ego, high-performance site culture
- Report progress, issues, and needs to the Project Manager
We're looking for someone with:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Structure Supervisor level, with reinforced concrete and structural steel experience.
- Minimum 10 years in a Civil Construction in structural areas including marine, bridge building civil structures or commercial building utilising concrete, precast and structural steel valued at over (10M+).
- Proven experience in developing and growing teams, encouraging a positive work environment.
- Sound understanding of construction sequencing, temporary works, quality standards and cost/productivity drivers.
- A collaborative, straight-up leadership style – you're comfortable on the ground with the crew as well as in client and consultant meetings.
- A genuine commitment to safety and wellbeing, and the courage to stop work when it's not right.
