Support Worker

Help people with mental illness to live their dreams as a Support Worker in Christchurch. The role involves supporting tangata whaiora on their journey from inpatient services to living in the community. You'll work alongside individuals to support their recovery, improve their wellbeing, and to live a life that's meaningful to them. You might be assisting them with meal prep and clean-up and other daily living tasks, working on an activity, and assisting with medication where required.

You'll focus on the individuals' needs and provide culturally safe practice. You'll complete relevant administrative tasks, take comprehensive notes, provide effective handovers to the next shift, and support and collaborate with your colleagues.

About you: You'll be someone who enjoys outdoor activities, you'll be outgoing and enjoy engaging and supporting with others. Preferably you'll hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) or a recognised equivalent. To check if your qualification is equivalent, use the link below. Hold a full driver's licence, hold a comprehensive first aid Certificate – covering 6400, 6401 and 6402 unit standards, and have knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti Waitangi.
