Oceanix Yacht Care are looking for a reliable, practical and detail-focused Marine Detailing Technician/s to join our team as we head into the busy summer season.
 
We run a fully-insured, mobile detailing business working on quality private vessels, powerboats, yachts, maritime, charter and broker boats, providing professional yacht care and detailing throughout the Bay of Plenty and Coromandel.
 
This is more than simply washing boats. You will be using specialist marine detailing techniques and working with professional products and equipment across a range of surfaces, finishes and vessels.
 
THE ROLE
Your work will include:
  • Washdowns and detailed exterior cleaning
  • Machine cut, polish and waxing
  • Oxidisation removal and paint correction
  • Stainless steel cleaning and polishing
  • Glass, windows and clear-surface treatments
  • Teak cleaning and maintenance
  • Interior detailing
  • Engine room cleans
  • Applying protective and ceramic coatings
  • General vessel presentation and maintenance
  • Supporting the Oceanix team with mobile valet and detailing services
You'll mainly be Tauranga-based working across Tauranga Bridge Marina, Sulphur Point Marina, Tauranga Drystack and various private client locations, with occasional work further afield.
 
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
 
Previous experience in marine detailing, superyacht deckhand work, high-end automotive detailing, polishing, painting or similar hands-on work is preferred, and additional training will be provided for the right person.
 
Marine or superyacht crew between seasons, or someone looking to build a longer-term career in marine detailing, would be ideal.
 
We're not looking for someone who simply wants a job. We want someone who takes pride in the finished result!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Reliable transport to get to work locations and a full driver's license
  • NZ citizenship/residency or a valid NZ work visa
  • A strong work ethic and reliable attendance
  • Practical and comfortable using heavy tools and equipment
  • Physically capable of working outdoors and around boats
  • Comfortable working at heights and in different weather conditions
  • Detail-focused, with a good eye for presentation
  • Able to work independently while being part of a small team
  • Interested in boats, marine work, detailing
  • Ideally available to start now
