GCH Aviation are looking for an experienced Commercial Helicopter Pilot to join our team from October 2026 to March 2027.

Garden City Helicopters is proudly family owned, with opportunities to be involved across the wider organisation and contribute in areas of personal interest and expertise. Every member of the team contributes to the wider operation, so our pilots are expected to be hands-on and willing to assist wherever required to ensure the smooth and safe running of operations. This includes being willing and available to travel and work at any Garden City Helicopters base when required.

This role is based in Christchurch, with travel to cover our other bases in Greymouth, Kaikoura and Wellington as required.

Remuneration will be discussed with the successful applicant and will reflect skills and experience in line with the company remuneration matrix.

We are looking for a helicopter pilot with:

  • A current NZCAA Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter)
  • A valid NZCAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Minimum 1000 hours PIC helicopter time preferred
  • Experience in VIP charter, Part 133 operations, flight training, powerline construction and maintenance support, scenic flights and tourism, passenger and charter transfers, and commercial aerial project work
  • Willingness to assist in office, sales and ground support duties
  • Strong customer service skills, team focus and flexibility
  • The ability to pass NZCAA, Aviation Security and Police vetting checks
  • Willingness to work shift work across a seven-day roster in accordance with the Company Flight & Duty and Fatigue Management Schemes, including weekends and Public Holidays

Required ratings:

  • AS350/EC130, or similar turbine experience
  • Robinson R44

Desirable:

  • Instructor Rating
  • External load experience
  • BK117 Rating, or similar multi-engine experience
  • Firefighting experience
  • HUET certification
  • Overwater flying experience
