Wage: $30.00-$36.00 hourly rate

Hours of work: Minimum 30 hours per week, Maximum 60 hours per week, shifted by

                           roster from Monday to Sunday

 

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Store Manager to manage our pearls retail store La Perle in Queenstown — driving sales, elevating the customer experience, developing the team, and upholding La Perle’s luxury standards every day.

Requirements:

  • A qualification equivalent to a NZQF Diploma qualification in business or higher;

  • Or have at least 2 years of relating work experience.

  • Experience in retail management, preferably in luxury, jewellery, watches or premium fashion.

  • A genuine appreciation of fine saltwater pearls — you sell with knowledge and sincerity, not pressure.

  • Strong sales leadership: you have met or exceeded targets and know how to lift a team’s results.

  • Excellent communication skills with international and local customers; Mandarin (or other languages) is an advantage in Queenstown.

  • A proactive, organised, hands-on style — comfortable on the floor as well as in planning and reporting.

  • High personal standards of presentation, integrity and brand consistency.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, roster and develop sales staff; build a professional, motivated team that reflects La Perle’s brand.

  • Oversee visual merchandising, boutique presentation, stock level control, inventory management and loss prevention.

  • Analysing competitor’s information, perform sales promotions, terms of discounts and marketing strategies.

  • Own store sales performance: set the standard, coach the team, and work with ownership to achieve and exceed individual and store targets.

  • Build relationships with high-value and returning customers; handle complex sales, after-sales and service issues with professionalism.

  • Manage day-to-day administration: opening/closing, cash and payments, reporting, and supplier coordination.

  • Represent the brand in Queenstown and communicate clearly with ownership on performance, staffing and opportunities.

  • Provide expert guidance on Akoya, Tahitian and South Sea pearls, styling and gifting — and ensure the whole team can do the same.

  • Ensure the store operation is in compliance with the occupational health and safety regulations.

  • Any other duties may be required by the business
