CHEWCHEWNZ LIMITED is a growing business in interior painting and decorating industry, committed to delivering high-quality services. We are looking for two experienced Painters to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare interior surfaces for painting by removing old paint or wallpaper, filling holes and cracks, repairing minor surface defects, and sanding, smoothing and sealing walls, ceilings and other surfaces.
  • Protect floors, furniture, fixtures and adjacent areas using drop sheets, masking tape and other protective materials before commencing painting work.
  • Set up and use ladders and scaffolding safely to access walls, ceilings and other areas requiring painting.
  • Select, mix and prepare paints, primers, varnishes and stains to achieve the required colours, consistency and finishes in accordance with project specifications.
  • Apply paints, primers, varnishes and other decorative coatings to interior walls, ceilings, doors, window frames, skirting boards and other surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
  • Apply multiple coats of paint and other finishes as required, allowing appropriate drying time and sanding between coats to achieve a smooth, even and high-quality finish.
  • Remove existing wallpaper and hang new wallpaper where required, ensuring patterns are correctly matched and edges are neatly trimmed.
  • Inspect completed painting and decorating work to ensure the finish meets the required quality standards and project specifications, and carry out touch-ups or corrective work as necessary.
  • Clean, maintain and store painting tools and equipment, and keep work areas tidy and free from paint residue and other waste.
  • Follow workplace health and safety requirements, including the safe handling, storage and use of paints, solvents and other materials, and the appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

 

Skills and Experience

  •   At least 2 years of work experience in construction or carpentry or related field OR;
  •   A minimum relevant NZCQF level 4 qualification, no specific major required if the applicant holds a bachelor's degree or higher with strong learning abilities and a willingness to develop practical skills through on the job training.
  •   Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  •   Good organizational and problem-solving skills
  •   Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  •   Sound knowledge of food safety and hospitality industry standards
