CMC Contracting is looking for an experienced Class 5 driver who takes pride in their work and is confident handling truck and trailer combinations around farms, rural properties and tight-access yards.

Based at our Pukerau yard on State Highway 1, you’ll transport hay, baleage, bulk loads, machinery and other freight. This is a practical, hands-on driving role with responsibility for getting each job done safely and efficiently.

The work

You’ll operate on rural roads, farm tracks and in yards, including manoeuvring in confined spaces. The role also involves using a truck-mounted crane to load bags onto truck and trailer combinations.

The role is primarily truck driving, with occasional opportunities for digger work if you have experience or an interest in learning. This is by no means essential for the role.

Some occasional overnight stays away from home may be required.

What you’ll bring

• A current Class 5 driver’s licence and at least two years’ experience operating heavy truck and trailer combinations.

• Practical rural driving experience and sound judgement around farm access and changing ground conditions.

• A safe, careful approach to driving, loading and looking after equipment.

• Reliability, clear communication and the ability to organise your daily work.

• Willingness to use a tablet for work records, with training provided.

Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing may be required.
