HSQE Training Manager
If you know how to turn training strategy into real capability on the ground, this one's worth a look.
We're looking for an HSQE Training Manager to lead our regional training function and help build a safer, sharper, more capable workforce. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong technical edge. You'll drive HSQE training planning, oversee competency and compliance records, support operational teams, and make sure our training approach is practical, aligned, and fit for purpose. You'll also work closely with our national HSQE team to keep things connected and moving forward.
This role suits someone who can think strategically, lead people well, and still stay close to the detail. Good Work here means high expectations, low ego, and a real chance to shape how capability is built across the region.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Leading the regional HSQE training function, including planning, scheduling, coordination, and delivery of training activity.
- Managing the HSQE training team, including support for direct reports and day-to-day operational leadership.
- Overseeing competency, licensing, training needs analysis, and training records through the Personal Development Plan (PDP) system and related processes.
- Partnering with operational leaders and managers to identify capability gaps and build practical learning solutions that support performance and compliance.
- Connecting regional delivery with national HSQE priorities, while driving continuous improvement across training systems, standards, and outcomes.
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience in training operations, workforce capability, or a similar technical or operational environment.
- Proven ability to lead or coordinate people, programmes, and priorities in a fast-moving setting.
- Strong knowledge of training needs analysis, competency management, compliance, licensing, and training record requirements.
- Confident communication, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation skills, with a practical and delivery-focused approach.
- Strong systems capability, including Microsoft Office, training or competency platforms, and ideally experience with PDP or a similar system, plus a full driver licence.
Good work, good benefits include:
- Medical insurance and Life insurance after the eligibility period.
- KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones, up to 7%.
- Parental leave top up payment with additional return to work support.
- Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities.
- Great discounts at a wide range of retailers.
About us:
At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is what we do and how we do it. We're flat, friendly, and forward moving. Titles matter less than ideas. We back our people to speak up, get stuck in, and keep finding better ways to work. We take the work seriously, not ourselves, and when the stakes are high, we switch on and deliver.
This is a place for someone who wants to build capability that matters. You'll be joining a team that values safety, respects people, and knows that strong training can lift performance across the whole business.
How to apply:
If you're ready to lead from the front, build technical capability, and do Good Work with good people, we'd love to hear from you.
All successful candidates must undergo and pass a pre-employment medical and drug screen prior to employment.
