We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Delivery Assistant to support our team with the collection, loading, transportation and delivery of furniture, household goods, office equipment and other customer belongings. You're already strong in customer services and you want to bring it to a new level within our Company. It is a full-time permanent job with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work per week. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the truck driver with collecting and delivering furniture, household belongings, office furniture and other items to residential and commercial locations.
  • Load and unload furniture and other goods from moving trucks, ensuring items are handled carefully to minimise the risk of damage.
  • Secure furniture and other goods using straps, blankets, protective wrapping and other suitable equipment to prevent movement or damage during transportation.
  • Assist with packing, wrapping and protecting fragile, bulky and valuable items before loading and unloading.
  • Check items against relevant job instructions, delivery details or inventory lists to ensure the correct goods are collected and delivered.
  • Assist the driver with positioning the truck at collection and delivery locations, including guiding the driver when reversing, parking or manoeuvring in confined spaces.
  • Carry furniture and other belongings safely through homes, offices, stairways and other access areas, taking care to protect customers’ property and premises.
  • Unload and place furniture and other items in the designated rooms or locations as directed by the customer or moving team leader.
  • Assist with the use of moving equipment, such as trolleys and other handling aids, to move heavy or awkward items safely.
  • Communicate with the driver and other team members regarding loading arrangements, delivery instructions, access difficulties and any issues identified during the move.
  • Assist with checking goods for visible damage or discrepancies and promptly report any issues to the driver or supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of collected and delivered items where required, including noting completed deliveries and reporting missing or damaged goods.
  • Keep the moving truck, loading equipment and work areas clean, organised and free from unnecessary obstructions.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures, safe manual-handling practices and instructions for handling heavy, fragile or bulky items.
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers throughout the collection and delivery process.

  • Physically fit and capable of lifting, carrying and moving furniture and other heavy or bulky items safely.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Careful and responsible when handling customers’ belongings.
  • Ability to follow instructions, delivery schedules and workplace safety procedures.
