Job Description:

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Read and interpret construction drawings, installation plans and specifications for residential aluminium windows and doors.
2. Measure window and door openings on site and verify dimensions to ensure accurate fitting and installation.
3. Check aluminium window and door frames, glass panels and related components for dimensions, quality and defects before installation.
4. Prepare window and door openings by checking alignment, levels and fixing surfaces to ensure they are suitable for installation.
5. Install aluminium window frames, sliding doors, hinged doors and associated glazed units in residential properties.
6. Fit glass panels into window and door frames in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and relevant installation requirements.
7. Secure frames using appropriate fixings and adjust frames, sashes, hinges, rollers and locking mechanisms to ensure proper operation.
8. Apply appropriate sealants, weatherproofing materials and finishing components around installed windows and doors to help prevent water penetration and air leakage.
9. Identify and rectify installation issues, including misalignment, gaps, faulty fittings and damaged components.
10. Replace or remove existing residential windows, doors and glazing components during renovation projects where required.
11. Inspect completed installations to ensure that windows and doors operate correctly, are securely fixed and meet the required quality standards.
12. Maintain tools and equipment, follow workplace health and safety procedures, and keep the worksite clean and safe.
13. Coordinate with site supervisors, builders and other trades to ensure installation work is completed according to project schedules and construction requirements.
