Painter Job Description

Key Responsibilities

·      Erect scaffolding and ladders, and position drop sheets to protect nearby areas from paint splashes.

·      Prepare surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, repairing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces.

·      Mix pigments, oils, and thinning or drying additives to produce the required paint colours.

·      Apply paint, varnish, and stains with brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.

·      Hang wallpaper, align patterns, and trim edges.

·      Clean tools, equipment, and work areas.

·      Repair windows and replace glass in wooden or metal frames when required.

Pay rate offered is between $27 - $31 per hour depending on experience. 

 

General Labourers

Labourers

  • loading, unloading and moving paint, plaster, tools, ladders and other materials
  • preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping and removing old paint, plaster and wallpaper
  • mixing and preparing plaster, fillers, paints and other materials under the direction of painters and plasterers
  • assisting with applying plaster, render, undercoats and finishing coats to walls and ceilings
  • holding, positioning and securing ladders, scaffolding and other access equipment for painters and plasterers
  • covering floors, windows, fixtures and furniture to protect them from paint, plaster and dust
  • handing tools and materials to painters and plasterers and cleaning equipment during and after work
  • removing excess plaster, paint, debris and waste materials from work areas
  • filling holes and cracks, applying sealants and carrying out minor surface repairs before painting or plastering
  • cleaning work areas and assisting with final touch-ups and finishing work

Offered pay rate will be $26 - $28 per hour

Hours per week will be 30 to 50
