This role would suit a self-motivated candidate who will be primarily responsible for operating our modern fleet. You will be flexible in your approach and happy to assist on other vehicle types in our fleet.

Job Description

  • Manoeuvring vehicles into position for loading and unloading.

  • Loading and unloading vehicles using lifting and tipping devices.

  • Observing safety requirements when loading and unloading vehicles.

  • Making regular quality checks of vehicles to ensure they can be driven safely.

  • Estimating weights to comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight.

  • Ensuring goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and damage.

  • Verifying loading documents, checking condition of goods and obtaining certification of deliveries.

  • Washing and cleaning the truck when required.

For the Right Person, We Offer

A minimum of 40 hours per week, with additional hours consistently available. Maximum hours per week are 60.

Salary Range: $30–$35 per hour.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Have the Following:

  • A clean and safe driving record, holding Class 4 & 5 licence, or the overseas equivalent and ability to convert to a New Zealand licence.

  • Must have two strong work-related references.

  • Minimum one year of driving experience of heavy vehicles.

  • Strong customer service and excellent communication skills.

  • Sound understanding of Health & Safety and compliance with work time and logbook requirements.

  • Must be comfortable with staying away from home when required during weekdays or weekends.

  • Full cooperation with all company and customer safety procedures.

  • Ability to plan routes and meet delivery schedules.

  • Must be fit and healthy. Some physical activity is involved in the role, including strapping and chaining required to ensure secure loads.

  • Must be able to provide and pass two work-related reference checks.

  • Clean criminal record is essential.

  • Zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol.
