We are a local convenience store serving the Invercargill area. We are looking for a reliable, friendly and hardworking Retail Assistant to join our team. The role includes customer service, retail duties, and preparing and serving hot food, including chicken and chips, in accordance with food safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

● Providing friendly and efficient customer service.

● Operating the cash register and EFTPOS terminal.

● Receiving deliveries, checking stock and replenishing shelves.

● Maintaining stock displays and monitoring product expiry dates.

● Preparing, cooking and serving hot food, including chicken and chips, according to approved recipes, cooking procedures and food safety requirements.

● Operating and cleaning hot food equipment, fryers and preparation areas safely.

● Preparing food ingredients, portioning products and packaging customer orders.

● Monitoring cooking times, food temperatures and product quality.

● Maintaining appropriate food hygiene, personal hygiene and safe food-handling practices.

● Managing hot food displays, checking holding times and removing products when required.

● Taking hot food orders, processing payments and providing accurate service to customers.

● Keeping the store, food preparation areas, equipment and customer areas clean, organised and presentable.

● Assisting with inventory management and stock rotation.

● Following store procedures, food safety requirements and relevant retail regulations.

● Disposing of waste safely and maintaining clean and hygienic work areas.

● Assisting with daily opening and closing duties as required.

● Opening the store and completing opening duties from 4:30 a.m. when rostered.
