- Review supplier and subcontractor quotations, contracts, invoices, payment claims, variations, retention balances and supporting documentation.
- Check producer statements, PS3 certificates, completion records and other project documentation relevant to payments and project completion.
- Verify that payments are supported by appropriate invoices, contracts, approvals, purchase records and project documentation.
- Identify duplicate payments, unusual transactions, unauthorised purchases, overcharging, incorrect cost allocations and other financial discrepancies.
- Review whether project costs have been accurately recorded and allocated to the correct company, project and cost category.
- Compare approved project budgets against actual and forecast costs and investigate material variances or cost overruns.
- Review related-party transactions involving directors, shareholders, associated companies or other connected parties.
- Report material related-party matters, conflicts of interest and financial risks directly to the Director.
- Assess the effectiveness of the company’s payment approval, purchasing, procurement, cost-control and record-keeping procedures.
- Recommend practical improvements to internal controls, cash-flow monitoring, document management and financial reporting systems.
- Conduct internal investigations when authorised by the Director.
- Investigate suspected fraud, duplicate payments, overcharging, unauthorised purchases, missing assets, conflicts of interest and other financial irregularities.
- Gather and review relevant financial records, contracts, invoices, electronic records and supporting evidence during an investigation.
- Prepare clear internal audit reports setting out the scope of work, findings, discrepancies, compliance issues, risks and recommended corrective actions.
- Maintain an internal register of audit findings, agreed corrective actions and follow-up status.
- Follow up with relevant personnel to confirm whether corrective actions have been completed.
- Promptly report suspected fraud, material irregularities, serious policy breaches and significant financial risks directly to the Director.
- Maintain confidentiality, independence, objectivity, integrity and accurate audit records at all times.
- Perform other lawful and reasonable duties consistent with the Internal Auditor position.

- Experience reviewing financial transactions, invoices, bank records, payment approvals and management accounts.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, GST, financial reporting and audit procedures.

- The ability to identify errors, unusual transactions, financial risks and weaknesses in internal processes.
- The ability to handle confidential and commercially sensitive information appropriately.
- Strong written communication and professional report-writing skills.
