About Us

VHANJAM HOME AND RENOVATION LIMITED is a Canterbury-based building and renovation business delivering residential construction, renovation and repair work. We are looking for a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

•       Studying plans, drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures

•       Selecting, measuring, marking out and cutting timber and other materials

•       Constructing, erecting and installing timber framing, wall and roof frames, floors, stairs and other structures

•       Building and installing formwork for concrete foundations, footings and slabs

•       Fitting and installing doors, windows, frames, architraves, skirting boards, cladding, cabinets and other internal and external fixtures

•       Repairing, altering and renovating existing timber structures and fittings

•       Checking work for accuracy, level and plumb using measuring and levelling equipment

•       Operating and maintaining carpentry hand and power tools safely

•       Working with other trades and following site health and safety procedures

•       Keeping work areas clean, tidy and safe

Requirements

•       A relevant NZQF Level 4 or higher qualification (e.g. New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry), OR at least 2 years of work experience in the relevant industry

•       Sound knowledge of carpentry techniques, building materials and construction tools

•       Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications

•       Physically fit and able to perform manual work, including lifting and working at heights

•       Willingness to work weekends when required for demand or urgent jobs

•       Reliable, punctual and able to work independently and as part of a team

•       Strong commitment to health and safety and quality workmanship
