Provide commercial and financial analysis to guide technology investment decisions

Technology Commercial & Financial Specialist (10+ month secondment)

Our Technology team is looking for a Commercial & Financial Specialist to join the team on a fixed term basis. This 10+ month internal opportunity will work closely with the T&I leadership team to provide commercial and financial insight that helps us make informed decisions about where and how we invest. You'll improve financial visibility, strengthen commercial discipline and support evidence-based decision-making within the Technology department.

From budgeting and forecasting to technology investments, supplier commitments and value realisation, you'll help ensure our technology portfolio delivers sustainable value and supports our strategic goals.

You'll also identify opportunities to optimise costs, improve commercial outcomes, manage technology asset lifecycle obligations, and provide forward-looking analysis that supports better planning and investment decisions.

This role can be based in Wellington or New Plymouth.

You'll likely have experience in finance, commercial analysis, business performance, technology investment, procurement, or a related field. Alongside a relevant qualification, you'll bring strong commercial judgement, an analytical mindset, and the ability to turn complex information into clear and practical insights.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys helping leaders make confident decisions through evidence-based analysis.
  • Can see both the detail and the bigger picture when evaluating opportunities, risks and investments.
  • Builds trusted relationships and communicates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Thrives on solving problems and uncovering opportunities for improvement.
  • Has strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and reporting capability.
  • Is comfortable challenging assumptions and bringing a fresh perspective when needed.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively across teams to achieve better business outcomes.

You'll be valued for who you are, rewarded for what you do and supported to thrive. We'll sweeten your (already nicely competitive) salary with a host of extra benefits including additional leave entitlements, flexible working arrangements and free insurances and health checks. We'll fuel your professional development, keep you at the top of your game and help you build the career you want. Our award-winning wellness programme recognises you're more than the job you do and supports you with initiatives like an annual wellness grant and access to professional wellbeing services for you and your whānau. You'll get to work in a safe, healthy environment, supported by great people who want to see you succeed.
