Position: Program tutor

Term: Permanent

Minimum Working Hours: At least 30 hours per week from Wednesday to Sunday

Salary: $35.00 per hour-36.00 per hour

Place: Auckland

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver structured programs of study for individual students and small groups, 

tailored to their learning needs, abilities, and interests in programming 

• Prepare and present teaching materials covering theoretical concepts such as 

programming fundamentals, algorithmic thinking

• Instruct and demonstrate practical skills, including coding, and project development, to support students’ applied learning. 

• Assign exercises, projects, and problem-solving tasks appropriate to students’ training 

needs and skill levels. 

• Assess students’ progress through assignments, tests, and project work, and provide 

constructive feedback, guidance, and encouragement. 

• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring, adapting teaching methods to support 

individual learning needs. 

• Review and update course content, teaching materials, and instructional methods to 

ensure relevance to current technologies and educational practices. 

• Prepare students for assessments, examinations, and competitions in programming 

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the subject area through ongoing professional 

development and review of current industry trends. 

• Organise and supervise learning activities such as workshops and project-based  sessions, and support student participation in competitions, presentations, and  exhibitions. 

• Manage teaching resources and equipment, ensuring safe and effective use of robotics 

kits, computers, and software. 

• Communicate with parents regarding students’ progress and provide regular feedback 

and academic reports.

 

 Requirements:

  • At least relevant Bachelor's degree or above

  • Mandarin speaking is preferred as most student speak mandarin, but not a must

  • Be flexible towards working hours, especially working on weekends and different places in Auckland

  • Mature, responsible, can work under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Self-motivated and innovative.

  • Super problem-solving and decision-making abilities
