Earn 120k+ AUD as a civil engineer in Townsville. Mostly office-based with site visits, temporary accommodation provided
Why Apply

Stuck in a design-only seat with no say in how projects actually get built?
Our client is a Townsville-based construction business running residential and commercial projects. They need a Civil Engineer who is technical but practical enough to talk to a foreman, and who can handle procurement and budgets without being a pure designer. The role is mostly office-based with regular site visits, and it has real influence on how projects are planned and delivered.
  • Earn 120k+ AUD starting salary, with the company open to discussion for stronger candidates
  • Four weeks temporary accommodation provided on arrival, so you land in Townsville with housing sorted
  • Varied technical work across civil drawings, site inspections, hold point sign-offs, and materials planning
  • Mostly office-based with regular site visits, and the site foreman handles day-to-day supervision
  • Direct involvement in tender and design stage planning, so your input shapes projects
  • Townsville lifestyle, warm weather, affordable living compared to NZ’s main centres, and strong demand for skilled people
The Role

You will review and prepare civil drawings and specifications, inspect site works against plans and Australian Standards, sign off hold points, and plan and order materials against project programs. Your time is split between the office and site. The on-site foreman or supervisor looks after day-to-day supervision, so you can focus on the technical and planning side.

Day to day you will be:
  • Reviewing and preparing civil drawings and specifications for residential and commercial projects
  • Inspecting site works against plans and Australian Standards
  • Signing off quality checkpoints and hold points, and writing inspection and compliance reports
  • Planning and ordering materials against project programs, including quantities, supplier liaison, and budget tracking
  • Working with the NCC and Australian Standards, with a quick learning curve for NZ standards experience
  • Supporting tender and design stage planning
If you are a civil engineer, site engineer, or land development engineer with construction exposure, this role is worth a serious look.

What We Need
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in residential or commercial construction, design, or technical compliance
  • Working knowledge of Australian Standards and the NCC, or the ability to pick them up quickly
  • Materials procurement and ordering experience in a construction setting
  • Ability to review and sign off quality checkpoints and hold points
  • Current driver’s licence and White Card (to be obtained upon arrival)
  • Comfortable splitting time between office and site
  • Genuinely committed to relocating to Townsville long term
Why This Role

At 120k+ AUD with temporary accommodation on arrival, this is a strong package for an engineer who wants a varied role with real influence. NZ citizens can start without a visa process. Please note Townsville summers are hot and humid, so go in with eyes open.

For Kiwi civil engineers ready to move for a role that mixes technical work, site exposure, and procurement, this is worth the call.
