The role will focus on delivering practical ICT improvements aligned with the company’s operational requirements.

Job Summary

The ICT Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering Urban Cargo Limited’s ICT projects. The role involves assessing business technology requirements, defining project scope and deliverables, preparing schedules and budgets, coordinating ICT vendors and resources, and overseeing system implementation, testing and user
adoption. The position will work with management and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered within agreed timeframes, budgets and quality requirements, with appropriate attention to data security and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

1. ICT Requirements, Strategy & Project Planning

• Analyse operational workflows and consult with dispatch, transport, finance and management teams to identify ICT requirements and specify suitable technology solutions.
• Develop and maintain an ICT project roadmap, including project priorities, scope, objectives, implementation plans, budgets, timelines and resource requirements.
• Contribute to relevant ICT policies, procurement plans and technology standards to support business needs and project delivery.

2. ICT Project Delivery & Resource Management

• Plan, organise, direct and coordinate ICT projects from initiation and requirements analysis through procurement, implementation, testing, deployment and handover.
• Prepare and manage project schedules, milestones, deliverables, budgets, risk registers and progress reports, and take corrective action when project constraints arise.
• Evaluate and coordinate the selection, procurement, installation and integration of appropriate hardware, software, cloud-based services and logistics-related ICT systems.
• Coordinate external technology providers, contractors and internal stakeholders; oversee vendor deliverables and arrange user training and adoption activities.

3. ICT Systems Integration & Operational Transition

• Coordinate the implementation and integration of new or upgraded ICT systems with existing business processes and technology resources.
• Set priorities between project development, system enhancements, testing, maintenance transition and operational requirements in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
• Oversee project testing, issue resolution, documentation and handover to internal users or external support providers to minimise disruption to transport and dispatch operations.

4. ICT Security, Risk & Compliance

• Oversee ICT security requirements within projects, including user access controls, data protection, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements.
• Identify and assess project-related technical, operational and information security risks, and coordinate appropriate mitigation measures.
• Ensure ICT project outcomes support applicable New Zealand privacy, information security and transport industry compliance requirements.

5. Stakeholder Coordination & Project Reporting

• Coordinate project participants, ICT consultants, developers, vendors and service providers, allocating responsibilities and monitoring delivery against project milestones.
• Consult with management and business users on project requirements, progress, risks, change requests and implementation readiness.
• Report project performance, expenditure, delivery risks and outcomes to senior management, and evaluate whether completed projects achieve agreed business objectives.
