Wanted FITTERS/WELDERS for Eagle Recruitment NZ in GISBORNE

We are seeking skilled and experienced Fitters/Welders to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal components, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Cutting, shaping, and fitting metal components.
  • Performing various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, ARC) according to project requirements.
  • Inspecting and testing welds for quality and integrity.
  • Assembling and fitting fabricated components.
  • Using hand and power tools to perform fitting tasks.
  • Ensuring accurate alignment and fit of components.
  • Performing maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues.
  • Adhering to all health and safety regulations, including the use of appropriate PPE.
  • Conducting pre-work safety checks.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensuring all work meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Performing quality checks and inspections.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work completed.

 

Requirements and Skills:

  • Relevant NZQA unit standards for welding, fabrication, or fitting, or at least three years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Site Safe passport.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • First aid certification is an advantage.
  • Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, and welding fumes.
  • Physical demands include lifting heavy materials and working in various positions.
  • Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
  • Must be a NZ Citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.

 

The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to work in different locations (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago and Southland), providing a unique chance to explore New Zealand's diverse regions.

 

This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$30 and NZ$51, depending on experience and qualification. The work hours are from 30 hours minimum to 70 hours maximum per week, and they are to be worked between Monday and Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. They may be required to work on weekends.
