We are seeking skilled and experienced Sawmill Operators to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a range of sawmill equipment to process logs into timber products, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality output.

Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and maintain sawmill equipment, including but not limited to:
- Debarkers
- Headrigs
- Edgers
- Trimmers
- Planers
- Sorting systems
- Ensure the efficient and productive operation of the sawmill.
- Monitor and adjust equipment settings to achieve optimal yield and product quality.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Assist with log handling and yard maintenance as required.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Requirements and Skills:
- Level 4 NZ Certificate in Sawmilling, Solid Wood Manufacturing, Timber Machining, Level 5 NZ Certificate in Manufacturing, or at least three years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of sawmill operations and processes.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain various types of sawmill equipment.
- Knowledge of timber grades and quality standards.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
- Must be NZ Citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.
- Advantageous but not required:
- Forklift operator licence.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Experience with TimberSmart or Acadon Timber System.
The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to work in different locations (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago and Southland), providing a unique chance to explore New Zealand's diverse regions.
This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$25 and NZ$35, depending on experience and qualification. The work hours are from 30 hours minimum to 70 hours maximum per week, and they are to be worked between Monday and Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. They may be required to work on weekends.
