The food manufacture is looking for a Senior Operator, who will work on the production line as an expert in process, product and equipment. 

This is a permanent, full-time role, based at Hastings site in Hawke's Bay region. The manufacture operates 7 days a week, so the role may be required to work on weekends and public holidays. With guaranteed minimum of 40 hour per week, and may work up to 60 hour per week. Competitive remuneration from $36.75 to $38.59 depending on skills/experience. 

Purpose of the role: 

  • Undertakes the role of Seasonal Team Leader, supervising and mentoring 3PL seasonal staff, during the season as required. 
  • Providing support to operators in terms of experience, fault finding, defect analysis, line set-up and start-up checks, change-overs. 
  • Training operators in the correct operating procedures and practice manufacturing and processing techniques. 
  • Works with CI Lead, Operators, Shift Leads, Maintenance Leads and Process Owners to identify and improve processes to deliver reductions in downtime, NSPs, Injuries, Serious incident, yield losses, and waste generation. 
  • Training of new operators in their department procedures and training and mentoring in the best practice for the process.
  • Owning the validation of process control, CCPs and critical Safety and FSQ equipment and ensuring their validation and calibrations are up to date.
  • Double signatures of critical process controls or ingredients.
  • Deputises for Shift Leaders when required.
  • Assists with NPD trials within department that may mean working to instruction sheets or special method statements.
  • Assist with writing ng and updating of SOPs as required.
  • Works with the Shift Leader to champion and cultivate a culture of Ownership within the department.

About you:

  • Prefer NECA Level 1 or equivalent overseas qualification 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in production/manufacturing operation
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft office skills
  • Prefer Health and Safety Rep NZQA Level 3, but not compulsory
  • Prefer Low Acid Thermal Processing Qualified, but not compulsory
  • Sound knowledge of food processing and/or a complex manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of risk assessment, incident investigation and hierarchy of control
  • Defect Identification and timely problem-solving actions
  • Flexibility and Multi-skilling within the team they operate.
  • High level of competence in plant processes and systems within their area.
