This is a world first process for which WET has a number of international patents and plans to roll out facilities around New Zealand and across the globe.

Objectives & Duties of the Role:

  • Supporting business improvement projects within our production process. 

  • Closely monitoring and improving plant performance and constraints. This will include the requirement to work in production from time to time.  

  • Optimising plant performance through continuous improvements and refinement of control and automation capabilities, processes, user interfaces and ways of working. 

  • Research, test, and analyse ideas for possible automation and process improvements.

  • Programming of PLC/HMI/Scada/IIoT/MES environments.

  • Development of user interfaces. reporting and associated functionality within our HMI/Scada/IIoT/MES environments.

  • Supporting installation, interfacing, programming and commissioning of control devices.

  • Provide OT/IT training and support to the production teams. 

  • Supporting the optimisation and control team to provide 1st line IT support and the  relationship to 3rd parties providing 2nd line support for the Gisborne site’s IT/control networks, servers , printers and PCs

  • Perform any other duties reasonably required by WGL from time to time.

Required & Desired Qualifications 

Required

  • Relevant Engineering Degree and/or experience + ideally 3+ years post-qualification work experience in a comparable or in some way complementary manufacturing or industrial environment.  Work experience could be take in lieu of qualification.

Desired

  • Production/Manufacturing qualification of NZQA Level 3 or above

  • Automation and control qualification

  • HTML / Web building and coding

  • Experience and skills in both an electrical and mechanical practical capacity.
  • Involved in the development and implementation of new or enhanced plant equipment and processes

  • Experience in advanced manufacturing including delivering manufacturing KPIs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in a training and mentoring capacity
