We are looking for an importer to join our team at SJ INTERNATIONAL (NZ) LIMITED. We are offering a wide variety of affordable household goods, toys, stationery, electronics, and general merchandise. To support our growing business, we are looking for an experienced Importer to source high-quality products from overseas markets, ensuring competitive pricing and a steady supply of goods for our stores.

  • Employment Type: Permanent Full-time
  • Minimum guaranteed hours: at least 30 hours weekly - Max 45 hours
  • Location: Palmerston North

Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching and finding local and overseas business opportunities
  • Developing relationships and negotiating with partners, suppliers, and customers locally and internationally
  • Liaising with local and overseas suppliers and distributors about orders and products
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to imports and exports
  • Managing and storing documents and costs related to the import and export process
  • Making investigation and communication of delayed shipments
  • Arranging for delivering goods domestically and internationally
  • Displaying and selling merchandise and preparing product information for customers

Key success factors for this role require:

Skills & Experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience or bachelor degree in business-related studies.
  • Positive personalities, energy with a can-do attitude
  • Proactive attitudes to achieve a goal
  • Relevant work experience in cosmetic import and export or wholesale is preferred
