Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled and experienced Smallgoods Makers to join our company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality processed meat products, including meat cuts, sausages, ham, bacon, and other cured or cooked meats, while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing meat for sale by removing bones, trimming fat and cutting, mincing and grinding meat to shape and size for display or as ordered.
- Operate meat processing machinery such as grinders, mixers, stuffers, and smokers safely and efficiently.
- Cure, cook, smoke, and package smallgoods products while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Monitor and maintain food safety and hygiene standards throughout the production process.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and appearance of products.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in stock control and ordering.
- Follow company policies and procedures to ensure efficient workflow and minimal waste.
- Assist in training new staff members when required.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in smallgoods manufacturing or meat processing.
- Strong knowledge of meat cutting, curing, smoking, and preservation techniques.
- Ability to operate and maintain smallgoods processing equipment.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in cold environments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Work Conditions:
- Working in a refrigerated environment.
- Lifting and handling raw and processed meat products.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Early morning shifts or variable hours may be required.
