Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled and experienced Smallgoods Makers to join our company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality processed meat products, including meat cuts, sausages, ham, bacon, and other cured or cooked meats, while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing meat for sale by removing bones, trimming fat and cutting, mincing and grinding meat to shape and size for display or as ordered.
  • Operate meat processing machinery such as grinders, mixers, stuffers, and smokers safely and efficiently.
  • Cure, cook, smoke, and package smallgoods products while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Monitor and maintain food safety and hygiene standards throughout the production process.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and appearance of products.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in stock control and ordering.
  • Follow company policies and procedures to ensure efficient workflow and minimal waste.
  • Assist in training new staff members when required.

 

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in smallgoods manufacturing or meat processing.
  • Strong knowledge of meat cutting, curing, smoking, and preservation techniques.
  • Ability to operate and maintain smallgoods processing equipment.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to work in cold environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

 

Work Conditions:

  • Working in a refrigerated environment.
  • Lifting and handling raw and processed meat products.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Early morning shifts or variable hours may be required.
