Howick Bakehouse is looking for a hardworking and reliable Baker to join our team. Working hours are between 30 and 36 hours per week. Pay rate ranges from $30 to $31 per hour. 

Suitable candidates must have the following skills and attributes:

  • Relevant qualification (level 4 or above) and 1 year relevant work experience, or at least 3 years relevant work experience if no qualification.  

  • Able to start at 4.30am; available to work on weekends and public holidays. 

  • Physically fit for heavy liftings and tasks that requires physical strength.

  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and be a team player. 

  • Have strong multitasking and organizational skills.

Your duties will include:

  • Check the cleanliness of food preparation area and baking equipment.

  • Check oven and baking equipment to ensure everything works well.

  • Check the quality of raw material, weight and measure ingredients. 

  • Knead, mature, cut, mould, mix and shape dough and pastry goods. 

  • Prepare pastry fillings, sauces, cream, icing.

  • Monitor oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking time.

  • Remove baked goods from oven and cool baked goods.

  • Glaze buns and pastries, decorate baked goods with cream and icing.

  • Perform any other related duties as required.
