The Shed Technician maintains, upgrades, and repairs dairy farm equipment, ensuring milking and processing machinery functions efficiently. They perform regular maintenance checks and collaborate with farm operators to keep equipment running smoothly.

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and equipment diagrams.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Maintain, upgrade, and repair milking shed equipment, including machinery used for milking,
cleaning, and transporting dairy products.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks on milking shed equipment, such as milking machines,
vacuum pumps, and milk cooling systems. This includes cleaning components, adding
lubricants, and testing the efficiency of each mechanism to ensure optimal operation.
• Perform visual inspections of the milking shed and equipment to identify and address potential
issues, ensuring that all machinery is functioning safely and effectively.
• Carry out welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair or modify equipment, ensuring that
all welding work meets safety and durability standards.
• Use an airflow meter to conduct static testing of vacuum levels and assess component air use
and leakage within the milking shed.
• Utilize a pulsator recorder to test the pulsation performance of milking machines, ensuring they
operate within the required parameters.
• Measure vacuum pump performance, vacuum regulation, and milk pump efficiency to maintain
high standards of milking quality and equipment reliability.
• Complete detailed test reports, documenting findings, maintenance actions, and any necessary
repairs, including welding work, to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with dairy
farm standards.
• Assist with general farm and milking duties as required, such as setting up the milking shed,
managing milk flow, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment in the shed.
• Perform repairs on equipment within the milking shed, including machinery used for cleaning
and transporting milk, as well as welding repairs on any metal structures or components.
