Position: Electrical Engineer & Project Manager
Location: 240 Jellicoe St. Te Puke, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand

Salary Range: NZ$63,000-80,000/annum

JOB PURPOSE:
The Electrical Engineer & Project Manager will oversee electrical projects, ensuring compliance with New Zealand regulations and maintaining efficient operations. This role involves the design, development, and supervision of the manufacture and installation of electrical equipment, systems for generation and distribution, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance. Additionally, the role encompasses project planning, budgeting, and team coordination to ensure timely, cost-effective project delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
Design, modify, and develop electrical systems, including switchboards, control panels, power distribution networks, and automation systems.
Determine the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
Develop technical drawings and electrical schematics using AutoCAD and other CAD software.
Integrate PLC, SCADA, VSDs, and other automation/control technologies into system designs.
Evaluate and implement improvements in electrical systems for safety, efficiency, and reliability
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with AS/NZS 3000, WorkSafe NZ standards, and other relevant codes and regulations.
Conduct technical assessments, audits, and risk analyses to ensure safety and compliance.
Lead electrical inspections, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
Project Engineering & Management
Lead electrical engineering projects, including system upgrades, new installations, and retrofits.
Prepare project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
Manage procurement, contractor engagement, and on-site execution in coordination with clients and stakeholders.
Oversee long-term infrastructure improvement plans (e.g., 5-year upgrade strategies).
Team Leadership & Coordination
Supervise and mentor engineering technicians, subcontractors, and junior team members.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain communication with clients, regulatory authorities, and suppliers.
Professional Development
Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to pet food manufacturing.
Ad hoc
Perform other tasks that may be assigned either individually or as part of a committee or team.
