We are a well establish business based in Auckland and we are looking for an experienced Directional Drill Operator to join us in a full-time permanent role in the Auckland region. Our ideal candidate must have relevant work experience, and a class 1 driver license or international equivalent.

You will be guaranteed work for 30 hours per week between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Saturday. You must be available to work late evenings and Sundays if required. Hourly rate of pay is between $29.00 to $35.00 for the right candidate.

Your daily tasks will involve:

  • Operate machinery for installation of underground utility services and conduit, including fibre optic cables, power duct, water pipe, and building construction. 
  • Ensure safety of the public and other utilities, underground facilities.
  • Perform duties per safety procedures using appropriate safety equipment. 
  • Setup and cleanup work site, including traffic and pedestrian control.
  • Read utility locates and Risk Assessments before commencing work. 
  • Ensure applicable permits and plans are valid and on site. Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment.
  • Perform proper maintenance of drills and equipment, and note any major repairs.
  • Lead and assist team with work in and out of the machine when required.
  • Fill out all required Risk Assessment documents before, during, and after work. 
  • Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed and assist in implementing health, safety, quality aspects.

 

Skills and experience required:

  • You must have at least 1 year of relevant drilling experience
  • Class 1 driver's license or international equivalent
  • Familiar with general road work practices
  • Preferably have a good understanding of underground services
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test prior to employment
  • WTR endorsement preferred
  • Comply with health and safety requirements and wear appropriate PPE gear
  •  Ability to write up logs, safety checklists and incident reports
  • Must be smartphone savvy
  • Basic first aid qualifications are an advantage
