Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation: Thoroughly prepare various surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, filling holes and cracks, scraping, and applying primers and sealers as required.

Paint Application: Apply a variety of coatings, including paints, varnishes, stains, and other protective or decorative finishes, using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other appropriate tools.

Colour Matching and Mixing: Accurately match and mix paints to specified colours and consistencies.

Wallpapering: Prepare surfaces and hang wallpaper and other wall coverings to a high standard.

Specialty Finishes: Apply specialised finishes such as textured coatings, decorative effects, or faux finishes.

Site Management: Maintain a clean and organised work area and ensure the safe storage of materials and equipment.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.

Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients professionally and courteously.

Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues that may arise during the painting process.

Quality Control: Ensure all work is completed to a high-quality standard and meets client specifications.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment.

Other duties as required: Assist with other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements and Skills:

Level 4 NZ Certificate in Painting and Decorating, or at least three years of relevant experience.

Site Safe passport, an advantage.

Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment.

Excellent surface preparation skills.

Proficiency in applying various types of coatings using different methods.

Ability to accurately match and mix colours.

Understanding of health and safety regulations within the painting industry.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Physical fitness and the ability to handle the demands of the job (e.g., lifting, bending, working at heights).

Must be an NZ Citizen, NZ Resident, or eligible to work in NZ.
The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to work in different locations (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago and Southland), providing a unique chance to explore New Zealand's diverse regions.
This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$28 and NZ$40, depending on experience and qualification. The work hours are from 30 hours minimum to 70 hours maximum per week, and they are to be worked between Monday and Friday, between 7 am and 5 pm. They may be required to work on weekends.
