We seek skilled and reliable Bricklayers to join our team. The successful candidate will lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry materials to construct and repair walls, foundations, and other structures according to blueprints and specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of bricklaying techniques, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and materials required.

     

  • Prepare work areas by setting out lines, levels, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.

     

  • Mix mortar to the correct consistency.

     

  • Lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry units using appropriate bonding patterns and techniques.

     

  • Ensure accurate alignment, level, and spacing of masonry units.

     

  • Cut and shape bricks and blocks as needed using hand and power tools.

     

  • Construct and repair walls, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, and other structures.

     

  • Apply mortar and grout using trowels and other tools.

     

  • Point, clean, and finish brickwork to a high standard.

     

  • Maintain and clean tools and equipment.

     

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.

     

  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

     

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.

     

  • Potentially assist with other general site duties as required.

 

Requirements and Skills:

  • Level 4 NZ Certificate in Trowel Trades Brick & Block Laying or Trowel Trades Refractory Installation, or at least three years of relevant experience.

     

  • Site Safe passport, an advantage.

     

  • First aid certificate is an advantage.

     

  • Solid understanding of bricklaying principles, techniques, and materials.

     

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

     

  • Proficiency in using various hand and power tools associated with bricklaying.

     

  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.

     

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

     

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

     

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

     

  • Good communication skills.

     

  • A strong commitment to health and safety practices.

     

  • Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.

     

  • Must be an NZ Citizen, NZ Resident, or eligible to work in NZ.

 

The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to work in different locations (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago and Southland), providing a unique chance to explore New Zealand's diverse regions.

 

This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$27 and NZ$40, depending on experience and qualification. The work hours are from 30 hours minimum to 70 hours maximum per week, and they are to be worked between Monday and Friday, between 7 am and 5 pm. They may be required to work on weekends.
